Carfin (An Càrn Fionn in Gaelic) is a small town. Carfin is to the north-east of Motherwell, Scotland on the road to Newarthill.

Local facilities

The closest High school is Brannock High.
   Carfin has strong Irish Catholic links, this is present in Carfin Grotto a famous pilgrimage place, with extensive gardens and a visitors centre/cafe.There are many places of worship in Carfin. A church hall is present, a community church within the Community Centre and a small mosque for Muslims, which in 2006 was moved to a bigger Mosque near Mossend, Bellshill
   The outskirts of Carfin do offer some interest, with a private golf club/rugby fields/driving range complex situated between Carfin & Holytown. The Google Earth marker is on the SE corner of the BOC site at Dalziel Park rather than on the main area of Carfin.
   The golf course, named after Sam Torrance (Torrance Park), was funded by Rangers chairman David Murray.
   Carfin was also spelled as caerfin.

Transport

Carfin railway station provides the hub for transport to Glasgow, with the local bus stops providing easy access to Motherwell and surrounding towns. These services don't operate on Sundays.

Climate

The climate is temperate, agreeing with the temperate climate of northern Britain.
